A Successful Ramadhan

26 Jul

Assalama Alaikum Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatuhu

As Ramadhan is drawing near, it is important to prioritize our time to ensure a successful Ramadhan.

  •  Pray all prayers on time and as early as possible. Don’t delay Salaah, this can force praying in hurry in an attempt not to miss its prescribed times; which can lead to being less concentrated and genuine.
  • Recite the Qur’an and ponder on its meanings. Reading the Qur’an descends peace and tranquillity upon oneself. During, Ramadhan you could read two pages as a minimum.
  • Make an effort to gain knowledge, you can do this by attending lectures or ongoing classes at the local Masjid. However it doesn’t stop have to stop there, you can attend classes online on Wiziq and Paltalk. All you have to do is register and have a valid email address.
  • Read one new hadith and its meaning. You can start by reading the Riyadh As Saliheen (click here and here to see the book). Take it slow and read the meanings thoroughly.
  • Read the tafseer (explanation) of the Qura’an
  • Concentrate on the beauty of the taraweeh prayers (prayers performed at night during Ramadhan).
  • Making more dua’s (prayers). We should never retire from making dua especially as it is the believer’s weapon.
  • Eat healthier, is there a better time than to start eating healthier during Ramadhan? Keeping a balanced and nutritious diet during Ramadhan, increases your energy to achieve your Ramadhan goals.
  • Remembering Allah as much as possible and being grateful for everything He has blessed you with.
  • Give charity and be generous. Remembering the less fortunate is something that should be dear to us. Especially with recent events such as the drought in East Africa. Obviously there many more people who need our help and we should not forget about them. “Each one of you should save himself from the fire by giving even half of a date in charity. And if you do not find a half date, then by saying a pleasant word to your brethren.” Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 394
  • Ask for forgiveness. We should make tawbah (repentance) as much we can and carry this on beyond Ramadhan. Beware of minor sins we might commit and find a way to abolish them.
  • Breaking your fast with other Muslims. This is definitely a way to celebrate the beauty of Ramadhan and Islam itself. Uniting with the Ummah and coming together as one. It creates harmony and peace within Muslims and this is one of the ways of strengthening the ties between us.
  • Purifying our relationships with eachother. Forgiving others.

I pray you all reach your desired goals for this Ramadhan and beyond it. May Allah strengthen your imaan. Ameen
